ARTIST BOOK
WHERE THE RIVER SLOWS DOWN / Calligraphies of Waiting / is my first artist’s book, created somewhat by chance and made possible by the skill of the Bottega Fagnola bookbindery.
I’ve always loved herons so much: so elegant and comical at the same time, they are paragons of patience and spend hours and hours waiting for their prey.
The cover, title page, and colophon are printed, while the herons are all original paintings on Xuan paper. I’d love to make more—I can already picture them—but for now, this is the first and only copy, a truly precious one.
